On hearing the results Michael Bublé said,

“Frank Sinatra is Frank Sinatra. No-one can compare to the man. I’m just happy to be Michael Bublé, and having a chance to bring my music to the world.  So far the trip has been more than I could have ever imagined.

Thanks to all of those who watch TCM and took the time to vote for me.

See you in July!”

Aged just 32, the critically acclaimed, award-winning artist beat American crooner Harry Connick Jr. to the top spot. Bublé shot to fame in 2000 after singing at the wedding of the former Canadian Prime Minister’s daughter, Caroline Mulroney and was swiftly snapped up by one of the guests, a Warner Bros producer. In 2003 he released his first album which quickly became an international success, culminating in numerous awards. Whilst Michael Bublé came out top overall, further breakdown of the results revealed that Robbie Williams came third with 18%, showing that even though he has not released an album since 2006 he is still popular with UK audiences. The success of Robbie’s 2001 Swing When You’re Winning album exposed his admiration for Sinatra and spent 6 weeks in the UK chart at number one.

81 year old Tony Bennett, who was a close friend of Sinatra’s came 5th narrowly beating Pop Idol winner Will Young who took over 3% of the vote. Rod Stewart, 63 had the least amount of votes with Sir Elton John one of the world’s most successful artists only coming 9th.

The poll held on tcmonline.co.uk launches the Strictly Sinatra season on TCM, which showcases some of his best-known movies, including High Society, On the Town, Never So Few and The Tender Trap. As part of the month-long season, Nancy, Frank Jr. and Tina Sinatra talk exclusively to TCM and help build a portrait of the man behind the legend in intros and short interviews screened around the films. A film starring Sinatra is shown at 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays, with another two showings on 14th May, the anniversary of his death.
