Launching at the Berlin International Film Festival, the 2008 volume will be a special double edition presenting the films and festivals of 2006 and 2007. Written by expert local correspondents, the book assesses the cinematic output of over 100 countries via specially commissioned critical reviews, which report on features, documentaries and shorts, as well as new trends and industry developments.

Other features include coverage of five 'Directors of the Year' (Fatih Akin, Suzanne Bier, Guillermo del Toro, Paul Greengrass and Jia Zhangke), a detailed country focus on Germany, industry analysis on documentary and the growth of DVD production, and a comprehensive listing and description of all major international and smaller local film festivals from all over the world. UK Launch Event

Wallflower Press is hosting a special screening of Fatih Akin's latest feature, The Edge of Heaven at the
Curzon Soho on 28 February. After the screening, Ian Haydn Smith, and former Edinburgh Film Festival Director, Shane Danielsen, will lead a discussion about the film and recent resurgence of German cinema before a celebratory wine reception in the Curzon Soho bar.
