PRESS RELEASE 24th July 2009
‘Fame - Dancing in the Streets’ special
TCM, from 8.30pm on Thursday 30th July
Thursday 30th July 8:30 pm: film channel TCM will air Fame night to include: ‘Fame: Dancing in the Streets’ – a night of special programming featuring the recent TCM re-make of the iconic street dance scene from 1980’s movie, Fame.
Recreated by Denise Van Outen, Johnny Vegas and nearly 1000 members of the public, the special also features a behind-the-scenes documentary which will reveal how the biggest ever recreation of its kind was produced, followed by the original Fame movie.
The recreation, which launched TCM ‘Capture Your Classic’ campaign, saw a street in London’s Shoreditch transformed into a New York streetscape, filled with the sights and sounds of Fame, as the crowd went back to the 1980s.
‘Capture Your Classic’ is a nationwide competition inviting film fans to submit video recreations of famous film recreations - as voted in a nationwide survey - to WWW.TCMUK.TV/CYC. The winner will receive return flights to LA, with accommodation, tickets to a TCM celebration of film in Hollywood and £1000 spending money.
Tune in to TCM on Thursday 30th July for Fame night to include: Fame - Dancing in the Street at 8:30 pm followed by Fame - the movie at 9.00pm
