Cartoon Network, the home of ‘top toon stars’ presents Ed, Edd n Eddy .
Three friends band together because they all share the same name, live on the same cul-de-sac and are tackling some of life’s most daunting problems! Like a jigsaw without all the pieces, this youthful crew suffers from all the symptoms of growing up - acne, greasy hair and gawky awkwardness. They just want to belong, but first of all they have to figure out what it is that they want to belong to.
The creator of Ed, Edd n Eddy is Danny Antonucci, producer/director of the ground breaking Lupo the Butcher, and the series The Brothers Grunt for MTV Networks. He is the director of a.k.a CARTOOON inc., located in Vancouver Canada.
Antonucci, has been working in the animation industry for nearly 20 years, serving in all capacities, from storyboard artist to producer. He started his career at Canimage Productions, a division of Hanna-Barbera where he worked on the Scooby-Doo series. Before opening his own studio, Antonucci worked at International Rocketship Ltd. animating short films and television commercials.
Ed suffers from having an incredibly short attention span. His reverie occasionally interrupted by an idea or the possibility of an idea. If there is any hard work to be done Ed is the one that gets lumbered with it, especially Edd’s jobs.
The thing that makes him happiest in life is playing with his model kits and B-Monster movies, the latter from which he draws all his knowledge.
The one blot on the horizon in his otherwise nearly perfect life is his little sister Sarah who makes him dance to her tune even to the extent of allowing her to dress him up in his mother’s clothes. He is allergic to practically everything.
His mum Xerox’s his sketches for her analyst to check out while his dad hopes he will inherit his vast knowledge of the second hand auto trade.
Edd's smart, quiet and polite – in fact he’s so polite it’s painful!
He hasn’t been allowed to take gym ever since an indiscretion during a Dodge ball game. He’s excused to spend free study time in the library.
Prone to mumbling he doesn’t like people touching his things. “You may enter my room, but don’t touch my beaker. Thank you”. He's also learning to play steel guitar because his mum likes it.
Edd’s prone to crushes. Girls in school, in his neighbourhood, TV and anatomy books. A true romantic, he sends those he falls for a pair of his socks. Edd’s always ready for action despite the fact that knows that it’s probably a really bad idea.
No one sees Edd’s parents as they both work nights and communicate with him via post-it notes. While they are gone, Edd is not allowed to touch anything in the house. Anything at all!
A total exhibitionist he just can't help himself. His self-delusions tend to manifest themselves in megalomania. He confidently pretends that he knows it all.
Eddy is the unofficial leader of the gang and has always got a plan or a stunt or a weird noise. The “class clown” he loves showing off no matter how stupid it makes him look.
Eddy is the only kid in school to have been expelled for a whole week when instead of playing the science video, Our Friend Yeast, he premiered a video tape that he had found in his parents bedroom on the class video recorder.
His elder brother passed on all the neighbourhood secrets to him, the most important being the secret recipe for the ‘El Mongo’ Stink Bomb (a family inheritance). His hormones are racing. His dad’s worried he may grow up to be a figure skater.
She’s Ed’s baby sister and in their home it's her way or the highway. She has everything done for her, if not she’ll “make” them do it. She’s whiney and quick to judge and has a tantrum for every occasion. She keeps the three Ed's on their toes although she does think Edd’s really cute. She would like Eddy to move out of the neighbourhood, preferably to another planet.
He’s Sarah’s best friend and likes playing with the girls. Accident, prone, he is constantly suffering from one affliction or the other. He doesn’t like the Ed’s because he reckons they are a bit too rough!
Rolf is a first generation immigrant of indeterminate nationality. Proud of his heritage he has peculiar traditions and customs, like eating ‘weird’ things. He has hair on his back and is always getting all the kids confused with one another.
He’s a wanderer and very inquisitive. He spends most of his time playing with his buddy ‘Plank’ – a wooden plank Johnny drew a face on with a crayon. They have great conversations and are always accessible to the Ed’s!
She’s the cool calm and assertive one of the bunch. The most mature of the kids, or so she thinks, she’s into make-up, fashion magazines and boys. Hero worshipped by Sarah she brings all activity to a halt when she appears on the scene. Boys freeze, they sweat, their hearts beat faster and they loose their ability to talk. When she leaves, they conclude it was something they ate. She thinks the Ed’s are funny.
Cynical and sarcastic, he has overdosed on current affairs television series 60 Minutes and thinks he has all the answers.
These are the tough gals on the block; bullying, bothering and bewildering everyone. They live in the motor park on the other side of the cul-de-sac. A place none of the other kids have dared to venture. Proud of their Tammy Faye Baker -memorabilia, their project ‘Cooking with Ketchup’ closed down their school for a week. They want to marry the Ed’s so they can wash their dishes. The Ed’s don’t like them!
