In the beginning there was Dragon Ball, where the legend was created. Dragon Ball is the first of the trilogy that gave the world the classic action-adventure of Dragon Ball Z. Here we meet Goku, Master Roshi and Bulma, for the first time, to mention just a few of the now familiar characters.
We see the birth of Goku's powers and the origins of Krillim, Piccolo, Yamcha and the other Z Warriors. Goku grows from an innocent young boy to an accomplished and powerful martial arts master. To watch Dragon Ball is to witness the dawn of a classic.
GOKU
Though only nine years old, Goku is already brave and strong. He is being trained by Master Roshi to become a great fighter but is enjoying life flying around and finding adventures. Raised by his Grandfather, Gohan, Goku was born with a monkey-like tail and has incredible strength and speed for one so young. His abilities are allied to a good, kind heart which is his true strength.
Armed with his magic fighting stick, he is already a formidable fighter. When Goku meets Bulma in her search for the seven Dragon Balls, he life changes as he joins her on her quest. Here the epic adventure of Dragon Ball begins.
BULMA
Bulma can morph into any form she chooses thanks to her being the teenage daughter of Dr Brief, the founder of the Capsule Corporation. Bulma has access to the tiny capsules that give her this amazing power.
Bulma has a mission: to find the seven Dragon Balls so she can be granted her wish. She likes Goku and agrees to let him join her, perhaps without realising just how useful he might be to her quest. She is loud, smart and sure of herself, but is always looking for that special boy to be her soulmate.
KRILLIN
Krillin is an excitable bald monk who has travelled to Master Roshi's island to train in martial arts. After becoming Goku's sparring partner the two become such good friends that Krillin decides to join Goku on the Dragon Ball adventures that will change his life.
Krillin and Goku are fiercely competitive about their studies and this often leads to tension between them. Full of spirit and energy, Krillin is Goku's greatest ally. His bravery knows no bounds and his friendship and valour will prove to be most valuable on the adventures ahead.
MASTER ROSHI
The elderly teacher of Goku and Krillen, Master Roshi is a great martial arts master. Living alone on his island, he was persuaded to give up his solitary life and to take on Goku as a student by the prospect of Bulma's company and beauty.
It took Master Roshi 50 years to master the powerful kamehameha wave attack, which he was then able to pass on to Goku. Once the strongest fighter on earth, in his old age he is its wisest teacher. Despite his age, he is still just about able to master his students.
