Gotham needs a new hero. Enter High School kid, Terry McGinnis who when he accidentally discovers the Batcave, confronts Bruce Wayne about his well-kept secret and volunteers to take over his crusade against crime. Handing over his mantle Bruce becomes Terry’s mentor and complete with a new sleek redesigned Batsuit packed with gadgets Gotham once again has a defender, a new Batman – Batman of the Future.
In order to facilitate being Batman and to bring in some extra money for his family, Terry works for Bruce Wayne, and the pair share an uneasy relationship. As Batman, or the Tomorrow Knight (as the citizens of Gotham have dubbed him), Terry is fearless—and he detests guns. Although he respects Bruce and looks to his years of experience for guidance, Terry has a tendency to defy his bounds and overstep Bruce’s instructions. Quite often Terry learns the hard way that he should listen to his mentor.
The years have taken their toll on the former Batman, who’s now in his seventies. Bruce Wayne may have slowed down, but one can still see the fire behind his eyes. He is a man to be reckoned with. Before meeting Terry McGinnis, Bruce had stopped living life. But Terry’s energy and passion for his cause have stirred up emotions in Bruce, enabling him to re-enter the crime fighting world he had forgotten—and now Bruce needs Terry.
When Batman is out guarding the city, Bruce stays at the Bat computer and serves as his advisor. He can quickly feed Batman information over the radio link to the new, high tech Batsuit. Bruce has faced the dark side of humanity for years and can guide Terry through many of the mazes he’s facing.
